fledgling House Finch
Like all young ones of any higher species, this fledgling House Finch has depended on its parents for sustenance. Moments before, the parent was beak-feeding this young one. Now the fledgling is desperately searching for the adult to come back and feed it more. Adult birds most often feed their fledglings right in front of the food source. In this way the young is more likely to figure out that all it has to do is do what the parent just did to get the food that it was just fed. This one has not figured it out yet, because the feeder that the parent got the seed from to feed this fledgling is just out of view, in the foreground.
