Taken from a foot bridge, this image of a 10' long Alligator (Alligator mississipiensis) shows it moving within the cloak of darkness, against a current and out into a pond to hunt.

It had just turned dusk and IT WAS SIGNIFICANTLY DARKER THAN YOU SEE IN THIS IMAGE. Had I left the image at the darkness it actually was, you would not have been able to discern this animal within the much darker scene.

Behind the gator is the willow thicket that it slept in all day and behind me (and the camera) is the open marsh that the gator is headed into for a night of hunting.
