That is a maroon-colored corduroy fabric chair with wood trim.  Hey, I remembered the color after more than half a century!   

I wish I could discern more in the image, to the right and left.

You'd better believe that we kids were treated right by our parents.  I feel the need to say that now because it has become common knowledge that a lot of kids were mistreated by their parents.  Not us.  We had our problems and a lot of them were big.  But we were cared for and never, never mistreated.  I am thankful for that.   As an afterthought, I feel saddened by the thought of those who were not.
